About Susie Moloney
I’m best known as a novelist. My break out novel was “A Dry Spell,” mostly because it was optioned for a TONNE of money by Tom Cruise’s production company. They never made it. Actually all the books have been optioned at one time or another, and there are a few scripts out there floating around (I wrote none of them).
My books are Bastion Falls, A Dry Spell, The Dwelling, The Thirteen, and a collection, Things Withered, stories. They’re all great–you should buy them. The Thirteen should probably be a movie.
I’ve been making the lateral move into film and television for a few years now, and in 2015 had my first production, an episode of the dramatic series BLACKSTONE, produced in Canada. Since then I’ve optioned a film script, had a disastrous experience writing docu-drama television (live and learn), and have been pitching like mad. I have great hopes for this year. I hope to get a couple of writer-for-hire thingies–such a great way to work the muscles, writing in the voice of a character you didn’t create–and I expect to pitch a few more series. I’m writing a Christmas movie, just because. Let me know if you want to see that
While I’m best known as a horror novelist, the film and tv work is more varied. In spite of how hilarious I am, I’m writing straight up drama for the most part.

The Thirteen
Desperate Housewives meets The Witches of Eastwick in Susie Moloney’s wonderfully creepy novel, The Thirteen . A paranormal thriller that blends contemporary suburban concerns and mores with the fiendishly supernatural, The Thirteen is the story of a woman who returns to her childhood home with her daughter, only to discover that the community is now run by a group of witches with nasty plans for the both of them. A wonderfully dark and original tale, The Thirteen will appeal to a wide range of readers—from fans of Laura Kasischke, Jennifer McMahon, Melissa De la Cruz, and Melissa Marr to anyone who has ever appreciated the delicious chills of Rosemary’s Baby.
Bastian Falls
On a September day in a town called Bastion Falls, it started to snow. And snow. And snow.
Young, pretty, and divorced, Marilyn was nobody special in Bastion Falls, a town like any People had affairs, cheated on taxes, and kept their secrets.
But on the day of the freak September snowstorm, everything changed.
Marilyn’s old truck died on the highway intotown.
And a test of her courage, and her soul, was about to begin.
The Dwelling
The house had history. Perhaps “too” much history.362 Belisle Street is a homeowner’s dream. A nice neighborhood, close to schools, new hardwood floors, unique original detail. So why then, wonders real estate agent Glenn Darnley, won’t this charming property stay off the market?
Perhaps the clawed feet of the antique bathtub look a little too threatening. Or maybe it’s the faint hospital-like smell of the room off the top of the stairs. It’s possible that the haunting music that pours out from under the steps keeps the residents awake at night.
A Dry Spell
A town of wide-open prairies and endless skies, Goodlands, North Dakota, seemed the perfect place to farm and raise a family – until four years without rain brought the town to its knees. Now darkness has descended on Fires are singeing the already parched land, suspicious crimes are on the rise, and an ever-increasing sense of doom is enveloping the town. Tom Keatley has pulled rain from the sky in town after arid town. A loner, a drifter, Tom is a rainmaker, the stuff of myth. But to Karen Grange, Goodlands` beleagured mortgage lender, Tom is her only hope to save the dying town. For Tom Keatley, inextricably drawn to Goodlands and to Karen, the storm is just beginning.
Things Withered
A middle-aged realtor trying to get ahead any way she can. A bad girl pays for cheating with a married man. A wife with a dark past lives in fear of being exposed. The bad acts of a little old lady come home to roost. A young man with no direction finds power behind the wheel of a haunted truck. From behind the pretty drapes of the average suburban home, madness peers out. Stories of suburban darkness from the award-winning author of A Dry Spell, The Thirteen, and The Dwelling prove that life can turn on you, or you can turn on it.
